My Full Story
My passion for amplifying the voice of children comes from my own experience. I am committed to making sure I connect with as many families as possible, to ensure no other children went through what I experienced. From the age of 3, I suffered from abuse. Throughout elementary school, I was bullied and ostracized, because I had been taught that this is normal in relationships.

Fast forward to my university years, when I took my first Introduction to Psychology course that helped me name what had happened to me. I decided to pursue a career dedicated to mental health. I began working at an inpatient psychiatric hospital for teenagers with mood and behaviour disorders, and witnessed the power of Attachment Theory impacting their lives, and mine. This inspired me to obtain the Master’s Degrees in Complex Trauma and Social Work.

I found a partner who helped me feel safe enough to trust, to give and receive love. I have 3 young children of my own, and it’s such a healing experience to 1) parent them safely and empathically, and 2) see myself as a functioning parent, despite my childhood experiences. I’m so glad to have turned a horrible life event into something productive, and I hope to continue advocating for children as long as I am able.
